At VoiceCon, the company announced its new Integrated Communications Package, which lets employees push incoming office calls to a mobile phone or voice mail. As the service evolves, future plans include integrating it with Verizon Business' portfolio of advanced audio, Net and videoconferencing services, and contact center services, Verizon said.
The news was well received at the VoiceCon show in San Francisco, which runs through Thursday.

During a presentation Monday at VoiceCon in San Francisco, Blair Pleasant, analyst for COMMfusion, told attendees that deployment of unified communication technology, which enables the real-time redirection of voice, text, or e-mail to the device closest to the user at any given time, is likely to progress from early adopters this year to the mainstream between 2010 and 2012.

Most major VoIP-centered conferences see a fair amount of announcements for new products and services. An exhibit floor walk also helps clarify and reinforce what?s interesting. The VoiceCon show I am now attending here in San Francisco is heavily oriented toward enterprise (as opposed to consumer) VoIP. Natural, then, that what I?m finding might be of key interest to enterprise readers. In one of the more important unveilings here, Sipera Systems announced a security and analysis toolset called Sipera VIPER Services.

IBM on Wednesday said it had acquired Web-conferencing company WebDialogs, and introduced a new version of its unified communications client Sametime. In addition, IBM said it would launch in beta early next year middleware for integrating multiple PBX telephone systems. This afternoon at VoiceCon in San Francisco, Cullen Jennings (of Cisco and Area Director for the Real-time Applications and Infrastructure area of IETF) and Eric Rescorla (Network Resonance, security advisor to IETF RAI area and involved with TLS spec) gave a 3 hour tutorial on "SIP Security." Both Cullen and Eric (also known as "ekr") are extremely involved with IETF efforts on securing SIP, so they were definitely the ones to do this presentation.
